November 2009 The project "Alexanderplatz" | .jpg) November 11, 2009, at the Teatr Wielki (Grand Theatre) in Poznan took place a pre-premiere of "Alexanderplatz", a dance performance choreographed by Paulina Wycichowska with music by Jan A.P. Kaczmarek. "Alexanderplatz" is a showcase of contemporary dance in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Round Table, which was a crucial political event leading to creation of democratic Poland, commemorating also the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The performance is based on the music of the "Cantata for Freedom" and "Oratorio 1956," danced by the members the Polish Dance Theatre. For more information on performance may be found at

August 2009 Premiere of "The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler" | .jpg) John Kent Harrison's European premiere of "The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler" took place in Gdansk on August 31. Many esteemed guests attended, including Polish President Lech Kaczynski and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage Bogdan Zdrojewski, along with Jan, director John Kent Harrison and actresses Anna Paquin, Marcia Gay Harden, Maja Ostaszewka and Danuta Stenka. |
August 2009 Japanese Premiere of the "Hachi" Soundtrack | .jpg) Hachi's soundtrack made it's debut on the Japanese music market in August. The film has already premiered in Japan, and will make it's US appearance in December. The score was recorded with the collaboration of the Polish Radio Orchestra, conductor Lukasz Borowicz, pianist Leszek Mozdzer, and also violoncellist Marek Szpakiewicz. |
August 2009 "Get Low" Score Recording |  In mid-August Jan recorded the score for his current project, "Get Low." It is an American production directed by Oscar-winner Aaron Schneider and starring renowned actors Robert Duvall, Bill Murray and Sissy Spacek. The film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. |
July 2009 Concert at the Fimucite Festival in Tenerife |  Jan was invited as a special guest to the performance of his film scores at the Fimucite Tenerife Film Music Festival on July 24. Diego Navarro conducted the choir and orchestra, performing pieces from "Unfaithful", "Finding Neverland", "Quo Vadis", "Passchendaelle" and "War and Peace." |
May 2009 Jan in Cracow | .jpg) On May 22, during Krakow's Film Music Festival, Jan's music was performed. Conductor Pawel Przytocki led the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, while soloists Sussan Deihim and Marek Szpakiewicz performed. During the festival, Jan met with his audience and fans in Krakow's central square at the Festival Academy. A special screening of "City Island" took place on May 23, featuring Jan's original score.

September 2008 Hachiko: A Dog's Story |  In early September in Warsaw, Jan recorded the score to Lasse Hallström's "Hachiko: A Dog's Story." The film stars Richard Gere and Joan Allen and tells the tale of a devoted dog and his master. The Polish Radio Orchestra, pianist Leszek Mozdzer and cellist Marek Szpakiewicz took part in the recordings, which were conducted by Lukasz Borowicz. |
